A Central Queensland BMW driver who got busted breaking the law numerous times in a matter of weeks, has copped a heavy series of penalties.

Dylan Robert Andrew Bromilow, 27, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court to 11 offences including two counts each of possessing drug utensils and disqualified driving, and single counts of stealing and operating a vehicle during number plate confiscation period.

The court heard police busted Bromilow driving a BMW sedan while court disqualified on May 1 and further, the vehicle had no front registration plate attached.

“On being intercepted (Bromilow) admitted he was a disqualified driver and stated he’d recently purchased the vehicle and was driving because he was going to buy smokes for his mum,” police prosecutor Jennifer Leach said.

Then on May 24, police saw the BMW parked on the road at Calliope and it was bearing cancelled number plates.

Police noticed the vehicle was “warm to touch” near the motor area.

“Further checks indicated this vehicle was immobilised on May 1... on Chapman Dr at Clinton - (and) the original plate numbers were confiscated for a 90-day period,” Ms Leach said.

“Confiscation plates were placed on that vehicle at the time.”

During a search of the BMW, police found a plastic bong in the glovebox and a glass pipe “containing crystal residue” on the back seat, the court heard.

Then on May 29, Bromilow put $84.35 worth of fuel into the BMW at Ampol Benaraby and drove off without paying - again while his licence was court disqualified.

The court was told Bromilow had a five-page criminal history consisting of “primarily” drug offences, and a four-page traffic history.

These latest offences were committed while he was on parole.

Solicitor Jun Pepito said Bromilow was a father of two and he understood he needed to “make better decisions.”

The court heard Bromilow had engaged with Drug ARM (rehab).

On August 14, Magistrate Mary Buchanan sentenced Bromilow to eight months’ jail, wholly suspended for an operational period of 18 months.

She also fined him $871 and disqualified him from driving for four years.

Convictions were recorded.
