A woman who bashed a man outside a Central Queensland pub knocked him to the ground and then kicked him in the head, a court has heard.

Iesha Maree Baira, 24, pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court to public nuisance in the vicinity of a licensed premises, and obstructing police.

The court heard that about 11pm on April 4, police responded to a Triple-0 call in relation to Baira and her friends fighting patrons outside Railway Hotel Yeppoon.

Police prosecutor Claudia Neill-Ballantine said police viewed a witness video which showed Baira and a friend punching a man and knocking him to the ground.

“Whilst the (man) was laying on the ground, (Baira) further kicked him in the head,” Ms Neill-Ballantine said.

“Security at the venue intervened and stopped the fight.”

Ms Neill-Ballantine said police also saw video footage of Baira swearing at the man and other patrons.

“(She) was highly intoxicated at the time of the incident.”

The prosecutor said while police arrested Baira’s male friend in relation to the incident, she attempted to interfere.

“She (Baira) was warned multiple times to stop obstructing and interfering with police.

“(She) pushed (a constable) in the chest and attempted to slap (him) in the face.”

Baira was arrested and taken to the watch-house.

The court heard she had no similar offending on her criminal history.

A solicitor said Baira was a full-time carer of two of her children.

He said on the night of the incident, the male person who was punched had yelled out “racial insults” to Baira and her co-offender.

“It’s probably not an excuse but it provides some context,” the solicitor said.

Magistrate Philippa Beckinsale said Baira was “very lucky” she was not charged with assault police.

Ms Beckinsale fined Baira $800 and a conviction was recorded.
