The southbound lane of the Bruce Highway at Colosseum near Miriam Vale in the Gladstone region has been closed while specialist police investigate the cause of a single vehicle rollover that tragically claimed the life of the driver.
The lane was closed as of 11am as the Forensic Crash Unit investigated the fatality, a Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said.
Emergency crews were called to the serious crash which occurred on the Bruce Highway south of Miriam Vale about 6.50am on Wednesday, May 14.
The QPS spokeswoman said the driver sustained critical injuries and was declared dead at the scene.
A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said crews were called to the single vehicle rollover at 6.50am with a crew arriving at 7.05am.
Anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage from the area is urged to contact police.
It follows the tragic death of a 43-year-old woman in March when a truck and car collided near Colosseum on the Bruce Highway.
The truck driver was not injured.
The man’s death on Wednesday brings the road toll to seven on Capricornia District roads in 2025, one less than 2024, according to QPS statistics.
