A Fraser Coast man has been airlifted with extensive third degree burns after a horrific accident at a private property.

A Fraser Coast man was airlifted to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital on Monday after catching fire while pouring fuel on a private property at Pacific Haven.

The man aged in his 60s suffered significant burns to his body but was flown in a stable condition, a statement from the Bundaberg-based LifeFlight said.

The rescue chopper was called out to the property at a private address just after midday on Monday.

The man was refuelling equipment when spilt fuel ignited and he caught fire, suffering burns to his leg and abdomen.

Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics arrived on scene and treated him for third degree burns.

The LifeFlight crew loaded the man onto the helicopter, which landed in a field across the road from the property, and he was flown to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a stable condition.
