Three people have been rescued from mad flats at River Heads on the Fraser Coast.

It’s understood the alarm was raised on Friday evening after one was reported missing and their car was found parked on the foreshore long after its owner was due to return from being out on the water.

A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said a Swift Water Rescue crew was sent out to help the three who were stuck on the mud flats off Seafearer Drive, about 20kms from Hervey Bay and near the boat ramp where ferries run to K’gari (formerly Fraser Island).

One of those, a man in his 70s, had suffered a hip injury.

According to the Queensland Ambulance Service, paramedics attended the scene at 7.48pm and the man was taken to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition.
