Caringbah Inn Hotel
13/20
Contemporary$$
The revamped Caringbah includes a big barn of a bistro, now a favourite with families and big groups. Choose from a good range of steaks, fish and chips, pizzas and pastas, and some interesting specials. Long, white bench-style tables dominate the space, with upholstered booths tucked away for marginally quieter dining. On a packed-to-the-brim Saturday night service was efficient but the food a bit hit-and-miss. Crisp beer-battered barramundi tails arrived with a limp, weedy salad and a skin-covered tub of tartare - but with excellent hand-cut chips. The slow-cooked massaman lamb shank was tender, aromatic and tasty.
