Cafe at Lewers
Contemporary
Chef Ross Dobson has helped put Penrith on the foodie map with The Union, his popular tapas bar. But few people know he has quietly been running the cafe in this lively and lovely regional art gallery for several years. It's a great spot to take a break for a pie, a curry or a toasted crumpet, with tables scattered over a piazza overlooking the historic gardens - and the caffe latte ($3.50) from Genovese Coffee of Melbourne will give you the boost you need to explore the remaining art. Service is more your order-and-pay than anything solicitous, but there's now a simple licence as well to enable you a sneaky glass of wine.
