Glenlyon General Store
Contemporary$$
There's not much to the tiny town of Glenlyon, but the General Store certainly packs a crowd. The fading 1860s weatherboard building, with wrap-around veranda and handsome corrugated iron roofing, holds court over the town's main intersection. The 'Loddon burger' is supreme country-style cooking in a bun, made with a whopping juicy patty. Blackboard specials (think fragrant dumplings in broth) are a highlight, as is the obscure beer list. The courtyard comes alive in summer with live music, and there are pantry provisions, too (Zeally Bay bread, Istra smallgoods, Maffra cheese).
