Frenchwoman Agathe Kerr admits that her Earl Grey or coffee croissants at Melbourne’s Agathe Patisserie would be a little too bold in her home country, where she trained. But moving to Australia exposed her to flavours she’d never had before, such as pandan and matcha, sparking a creative chapter in her viennoiserie.

In 2017, following the success of her famed South Melbourne Market croissant stall, Kerr opened a spin-off inside a tiny Royal Arcade kiosk in the CBD. Now, the second outpost has moved a few doors down into a bigger space within the arcade (shop 43) to cater to demand and offer a wider variety of products.

In addition to croissants (of the plain, pain au chocolat, escargot, pandan and almond varieties), you’ll also find pastries and sweets like flan, canneles, madeleines, assorted danishes and more.
