Beyond the cricket memorabilia signed by Brett Lee and what seems like Pakistan’s last five cricket teams, there’s not much to see here: instead it’s the heady subcontinental aromas that grab your attention. With expectations raised, the wait for mains can feel Test match long, so start with spicy samosas with golden crusts and add a not-too-sweet mango lassi. A butter chicken (the ‘speciality of the house’) balances sweet and spicy as deftly as the latest Bollywood blockbuster, but don’t overlook vegetarian dishes such as tadka daal: green lentils cooked to a fluffy finish and flavoured with coriander and ginger.
