Lao Village

Asian

After a few decades of no-frills, take-a-ticket, full-house trade, changes are afoot at Lao Village. The good news: a swish second outlet is opening just around the corner from the soon-to-be-revamped original site. The really good news: there are no plans to change the authentic Lao street-food dominated menu, so cravings for those chewy pork sausages needn’t go unsated. Ditto the barbecued marinated ox tongue, feisty papaya salad and crunchy fried rice with Lao-style ham. And despite the promise of sleek shop fit-outs, we’re certain the duck eggs housing partially formed baby birds will remain intrepid diner territory.
