Contemporary

Despite a roundabout location, this new Leichhardt cafe quickly became the go-to favourite for locals, who happily queue for a table on Saturday mornings. There are toys and books aplenty scattered around to make everyone feel at home, including an old carousel horse at toddler height. For grown-ups, the attractions are a full-bodied caffe latte ($3.50) from Australian Independent Roasters (AIR), and a brekky menu that proves not everything has to be bacon and eggs. Instead, there are mini brioche buns both sweet and savoury, and a stack of toasty things and pastries on boards designed for sharing. Or not.
