Chutney
Indian$$
This mainly Punjabi and southern Indian venue in Harris Park's Little India welcomes the diner with rose-coloured walls, comfy chocolate banquettes and the cheerful bustle of a popular local family eatery. Sev puris are a perfect starter - chickpeas, fresh coriander, tamarind, mint chutney and yoghurt served in small light shells of crisp-fried wheat puffs. Move south next for uttapam - thick rice pancake flecked with pink onions and sambar, a thin dhal soup, on the side. Back north now for tender pieces of chicken in a rich gravy fragrant with fenugreek leaves. For afters, a selection of Indian sweets - carrot halva is heavenly - and chai more than satisfy.
