Waratah have returned to the top of the NTFL ladder, with a 78-point belting of a Wanderers side unable to convert chances into goals.
Tahs capped off their pre-bye week results with a massive win over the Muk Muks beating them 17.8 (110) to 3.14 (32).
In light of recent results, the Eagles moved two of their big game forwards, Ed Simpson and former Port Adelaide player Steven Motlop into the midfield.
At first it seemed to pay off with Simpson standing up to the in-form Arnold Kirby in the ruck giving Wanderers their early chances.
Beau O’Connell and Marcus Totham bursting out of the midfield, with Motlop adding plenty of experience saw the ball make its way to the Eagles’ forward 50.
But despite some experience up front, the Muk Muks were unable to capitalise on those opportunities, a flaw which has proven fatal in recent rounds.
Waratah, however, were able to use those early let offs as a chance to regather themselves.
Dylan Collis, Jake Bowd and Dan O’Dwyer showed why they’re the leaders of the competition’s form back six in those moments, putting the pressure on and eventually getting the better of the contest.
And when the ball sailed down Waratah’s end towards the likes of Jayden Magro and Marcus Wattie the side in red and white did not waste their opportunities.
In stark contrast to the kicking woes of Wanderers, everything Tahs touched turned to gold whether it was a shot from their talls or smalls.
And as their backs and forwards dominated, so did the Waratah midfield as a crunching tackle from captain Brodie Carroll on O’Connell asserted his side’s dominance.
To make matters worse Motlop was unable to return to the action in fourth quarter and from then on nothing could stop Kirby in the midfield, while Thomas Cree made sure everything went forward.
Will Collis put himself in the goal scorers upon his return to the side, while Wattie and Magro only added to their individual tallies.
“We knew we had the week off next week so we didn’t leave anything out there against Wanderers,” Magro said.
“We just had to keep grinding away and get the footy back on our terms, and then we were able to play our footy.
“Unlucky for them they were unable to execute their goals, which could have done some real damage to us.
“We like to retain to retain the ball. Our back six set us up behind the play, and when we go forward we aim for our big targets, and us smalls try to get around and sneak a couple of
goals too.”

LIVESTREAM PREVIEW
They may be on opposite ends of the table, but old rivals Waratah and Wanderers always give it their all when they go head to head.
And the NT News will be there to livestream the game exclusively for you from 7pm, Saturday.
Waratah sit second on the ladder having kicked off their season well, and despite a couple of losses along the way stand a good chance of jumping to the top spot this weekend.
Key to their early season success has been their defensive stability led by vice-captain Dylan Collis who has been aided well by Jake Bowd and Daniel O’Dwyer.
There’s also plenty of livewires across their mid and forward lines including Jayden Magro and Thomas Cree who have kept the scores ticking over.
Wanderers sit from the bottom because despite all their talent they have lacked results.
But there will come a time when everything clicks into place for the Muk Muks and against one of their oldest foes this could be the week.
Steven Motlop up forward is always a danger man and should he get going then the Eagles will be well in the fight.
If you are attempting to cast the livestream or replay to a television, the best result can be achieved by either using a laptop/computer or a mobile phone.
