In an even performance across the park, Nightcliff led at every change and proved too strong for Waratah in the match played at Darwin Mazda Nightcliff Oval.
The Tigers soared into serious premiership contention following a 13.8 (86) to 7.10 (52) victory.
Waratah skipper Brodie Carroll opened the scoring when he found space and dribbled through a goal after three minutes of play
But Tiger forward Jack Hammond evened the ledger when he got the Tigers first a minute later.
Tiger onballer Brodie Filo was severely dealt with in his forward goal square and once the dust settled, he booted Nightcliff’s second for the term.
Then big marking Tiger forward John Butcher got into the action and his two goals gave the home side a clear advantage at the first break.
A round the corner goal by Michael Mummery got the Tigers on the board early in the second.
However, a big mark in the square and goal from Darcy Hope gave Tahs something to build upon but another to Butcher was the Tiger response.
Butcher opened the third with a goal after marking strongly but crumbing forward Garrett McDonagh snapped truly for Tahs soon after.
However, Butcher was having a night out and got his fifth for the game and while the red and whites were more spirited, they simply couldn’t find the gap between the big sticks.
Shaun Wilson and Mummery goaled for the home side in the last, and while Hope got one back for the visitors it was too little too late.
