NTFL 2022-23: Watch St Mary’s vs PINT Round 12 livestream

St Mary’s bounced back to claim revenge against a PINT side full of class at TIO Stadium. WATCH THE REPLAY.

Replay: NTFL Round 12 - St Mary's v PINT

St Mary’s beat PINT by 13 points in one of the games of the years in their men’s Premier League clash at TIO Stadium.

The reigning premier struggled to find any system to their game for three quarters, but kicked four goals to one in the last term against a PINT side that have been on the wrong end of several close matches this season.

Defender cum utility Lucas Jellyman-Turner, skipper Nate Paredes and livewire small forward Nick Yarran were the pick of the green jumpers in a result that kept competition newboys PINT out of the top five.

“The first two quarters by PINT were very good before we dragged them back in through the second half,’’ Jellyman-Turner said.

“We definitely didn’t play our best footy in the first three quarters, though we did turn it on halfway through the third after copping a bit of a spray.

“PINT in general were defensively good and credit to them, they’ve put together a really good squad and they’re competing very well.’’

PINT hit the ground running with three goals to one in the first quarter, a 12-point lead that would have been a lot bigger if their forward line had converted a series of goalscoring chances.

Greenants ace Jett Trotter was a major offender, booting one of four chances in the first and second terms that would have made their opponents’ chances of hauling them in a lot harder.

But sheer weight of numbers told the true story of the game in the first half, players like Damian McMahon, Brayden Taylor and Elliot Chalmers creating plenty of scoring chances.

A 16-point lead at the main break stretched to 22 early in the third quarter when Brad Ryan kicked PINT’s seventh goals courtesy of a 50-metre penalty.

Then it was St Mary’s turn to miss gettable shots at goal, booting five goals from 16 shots to trail a fired up PINT by a goal at the last change.

The closeness of the contest and several push and shove incidents exploded right on the three quarter siren when an all-in melee took place in front of the St Mary’s interchange bench.

No punches appeared to be thrown despite several players engaging in wrestling.

The clashes will make for some interesting viewing by the match review panel when they get together on Monday night to watch a replay of the clashes that lasted for three or four minutes.

LIVESTREAM PREVIEW

Reigning premiers St Mary’s will be doing everything in their power to get revenge against new-team PINT at TIO Stadium.

And the NT News will be there to livestream the game exclusively for you from 7.30pm, Saturday.

The Green Machine were the first side in the Premier League to concede defeat to PINT when they faced off at DXC Arena in Round 3.

However, it was also a match that seemed to put the spark and competitive edge back into Saints who later stormed to a five match winning streak.

That came to an end in a close encounter against top side Southern Districts in Round 11, but with Dylan Landt in the midfield, and potency up front and in the backline St Mary’s are a force again.

Meanwhile, PINT have also furthered their finals ambitions since that meeting beating both Wanderers and Palmerston on their home deck.

But while they have put out really strong performances against some of the best sides, they are coming off what they considered a disappointing draw against Tiwi.

They will want to prove again that they can mix it with the best, and who better to do that against than the reigning premiers?

If you are attempting to cast the livestream or replay to a television, the best result can be achieved by either using a laptop/computer or a mobile phone.

The NT News and AFL Northern Territory have come together in a partnership to livestream Men’s Premier League games for this TIO NTFL season.
