DARWIN bedsheets are expected to get a bit sweaty over the coming days with overnight temperatures not expected to drop below 29C until midweek.

Bureau of Meteorology senior meteorologist Billy Lynch said Darwin wasn’t expected to get any rain relief until Tuesday or Wednesday, with wet weather being drawn into a tropical low over the Gulf of Carpentaria.

The low passed over the NT/Queensland border yesterday and is expected to make landfall near Karumba as a category one tropical cyclone today. Mr Lynch said the NT’s coastal residents were now in the clear of any severe weather.

“Overnight temperatures didn’t drop below 29C on Saturday — we expect that to continue until midweek,” he said.
