ALICE SPRINGS has had a rough trot with crime of late.
The most recent crime stats do not paint a pretty picture for the Red Centre town of 25,000.
In the 12 months to November 2020, assault was up 20 per cent on the previous year, and house break-ins were up 23 per cent.
But it’s not all punch-ons and smashed windows.
Among some of the most noteworthy convictions over the past 12 months we have a bodybuilder who was found in possession of over $2000 worth of steroids, and a man who was done for possession of stolen gates.
Here are 15 of the most shocking, high-profile or just downright odd convictions from Alice Springs over the past year:

• An Alice Springs fuel company was fined $140,000 in April 2020 for an employee’s death
• Ryan Watts was fined $4000 in July 2020 for hindering cattle station accident investigation
• A 16-year-old was sentenced to 12 months’ detention after a gang bashed and robbed man in a carpark
• Ambalindum Station owners Hewitt Cattle were fined $30,000 after workers were injured
