A 43-year-old man found himself in front of a judge after he lost his temper and kicked a 10-year-old girl in the head after she disobeyed his request.
He pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in Alice Springs Local Court on Monday.
On the morning of Thursday, December 31, 2020 the defendant and the victim were at a hostel in Alice Springs when the incident occurred.
The defendant, who is a carer for the victim, told her to go and get a pram.
When the girl didn’t respond, and while she was sitting on the groung he kicked her to the head with force which caused her to fall sideways to the ground.

The victim felt pain and dizziness and cried.
The defendant yelled at the victim before a hostel employee walked over to see if everything was OK.
The defendant left the victim before returning later and taking her back to the hotel room.
Police later attended and arrested the defendant.
Defence lawyer, Cassandra Leonard, said part of her client’s motivation was to discipline the victim.
“Part of the reason was because he was angry,” Ms Leonard said.
“He lost control after the victim failed to obey his request to get the pram.
“He instructs me he didn’t mean to hurt her.”

He was given a sentence of four months and two weeks, but was to be released after serving two months and put on a 12-month good behaviour bond.
