Man charged with murder of woman outside Alice Springs Hospital faces court
A MAN charged with murder after he allegedly struck a woman with his car outside the Alice Springs Hospital has fronted court.

LAWYERS of a man charged with murder have requested three months to work on the case before the alleged offender next faces court.
Malcolm Abbott, who currently faces five charges including one related to murder and four related to several traffic offences, fronted Alice Springs Local Court today via video link after he allegedly struck a woman with his car outside the Alice Springs Hospital last week.
Defence lawyer Tania Collins asked for a 12-week adjournment on the matter, which was granted by Judge Judith Huntingford.

In a statement last week, NT Police said they would allege the 49-year-old drove a green Ford Falcon sedan at a 46-year-old woman known to him, which caused fatal injuries, on Thursday night.
He is then alleged to have left the Gap Rd scene about 9.45pm.
Detective Superintendent Joanne Foley said: “Hospital emergency staff attended the woman however she died a short time later”.
St John Ambulance didn’t attend the incident given it was just outside the hospital where other emergency services were available.

The man was arrested at a nearby location shortly after the incident.
Abbott will front court on April 8, 2021 for a preliminary examination mention.
