Cafes to try around Carnegie, Cheltenham and Moorabbin

You’ll find breakfast and lunch classics in some of these cafes off the beaten track in the streets of Carnegie, Cheltenham and Moorabbin. But there’s also creative brunch options almost too pretty to eat.

Skip the bayside cafes and make tracks inland to find exciting new brunch spots to visit in Melbourne’s inner south east.

Carnegie, Moorabbin and Cheltenham are rich with great value breakfast and coffee spots.

How would you like your bagel at Huff?

They can toast it and spread thick with cream cheese, or make it into a sandwich by stuffing with meat loaf.

GRANGE JUNCTION

122 GRANGE ROAD, CARNEGIE

Find Grange Junction in the old Glen Huntly Post Office. There’s gardens and a mini fruit orchard on site. The dog-friendly cafe is open Thursday-Sunday from 8am-3pm with a light lunch from 11.30am. Vegetarian options are available.

THE PARLOR MILK BAR & KITCHEN

38-40 WEATHERALL RD, CHELTENHAM

The Parlor has plenty of breakfast staples like poached eggs, corn fritters, and pancakes for something sweet. If you are after a sleep-in, lunch is available from 12pm, and order the pasta-filled dinner menu from 5pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

FRANK’S

97 CAVANAGH ST, CHELTENHAM

For something a little sweet, Frank’s has a lemon panna cotta and a violet crumble crepe to fill your brunch hunger. You can also order a classic breakfast staples including avocado smash and an egg and bacon roll. Frank’s is open from 7am Monday-Saturday and 8am on Sundays.

TWO BOB SNOB

256 CHARMAN RD, CHELTENHAM

For the early risers, Two Bob Snob is open from 5.30am weekdays and 6.30am on weekends. Start the day with an acai bowl or the pumpkin and halloumi fritters. Two Bob Snob has pizza, burgers, drinks, and live music on Friday evenings.

MILKBOY ESPRESSO & KITCHEN

Find this quirky cafe near Cheltenham train station and offers classic breakfast meals. Milkboy has a mixture of wraps available including lamb, veggie, and poached chicken, perfect for a lunch time meal.

If you are after a hearty breakfast meal, Johnny Dante has your big breakfast covered with two eggs, sourdough, tomato, mushrooms, avocado, spinach and tomato relish. Stop by for a cake, croissant, or focaccia.

Get your specialty coffee fix at The Odd Room. There’s also cold-drip and spiced cacao flavoured drinks available. The Odd Room has all the classic breakfast staples like smashed avo, Bircher muesli, and pulled pork benedict.

IL GIARDINO CAFE: GILL’S NURSERY,

Perfect for a family breakfast or lunch, Il Giardino has a playground and kids menu, while the adults can enjoy a glass of wine or beer. Breakfast includes Bircher muesli, chilli eggs, and french toast.

HEATHERTON

MISS MAVIS CAFE

3/20 CORPORATE DRIVE, HEATHERTON

Miss Mavis makes modern breakfast meals like chorizo scrambled eggs, and a spiced carrot Bircher muesli on its winter menu. Miss Mavis also has sandwiches made fresh daily and coffee options. Open Monday to Friday for breakfast and lunch.
