Cariss-Brett’s match-winning performance was the second time a six-fa had been taken this season following Assumption’s Xavier Stute who took the half a dozen of wickets in Round 7.
In the run chase, Camberwell’s second leading run scorer for the season, Adam Li, top scored with an unbeaten 41 to steer his side over the line with 2.5 overs to spare.
Fittingly, alongside Li for the winning runs was Cariss-Brett who was also unbeaten on 17.
Lachie McGowan was a important contributor at the start of the run chase with 38 openig the batting.
Heading into the game, Mentone had a unbeaten record of five wins and three draws while Camberwell were four wins, three losses and a draw.
The surprise win for Camberwell gives them a shot at breaking a 19-year premiership drought in the decider on Saturday, March 18.
In the other semi-final, Marcellin College produced a convincing five-wicket win over Assumption College to book a place in the AGSV decider.
Assumption were sent in to bat and posted a decent total of 174 after 49.2 overs.
Hamish Mullavey-Clark top scored with 59 which was also his highest individual score of the season.
Assumption looked more likely of winning early but when they passed the 100-run mark, wickets tumbled with Marcellin claiming 3-2.
It was Lachlan Sticca’s run out which sparked the momentum swing Marcellin’s way in a game-changing moment.
Leading wicket taker Thomas Kenny and William Waters were the pick of the bowlers for Marcellin with three wickets each.
Chasing 174, Marcellin’s number four Braydon O‘Connor led the charge with a game-high 68.
Isaac Rakuscek set the platform at the start with 44 opening the batting.
