South East drug dealers: Lily Debson stopped at Moorabbin DFO, Adam Pearce at Frankston

An ice-seller who aspired to be a fashion model swapped her top-end threads for prison greens after she was caught dealing drugs out at a shopping complex. Here are some of the seedy south east meth dealers.

Ice is the drug of choice for traffickers from Frankston to Fingal, Dandenong to Dingley, Cranbourne to Cheltenham. One southeast magistrate says it is “the most terrible drug the courts have seen, ever”. Another said it “wrecks lives” and a third says “the terrible trade” distorts the minds of people.

An ice-seller who aspired to be a fashion model had to swap her top-end threads for prison greens after she was caught dealing drugs out of a stolen car in a busy shopping complex.

Lily Leigh Jebson came to the attention of cops after she was seen loitering near a blue Mercedes parked at the Moorabbin DFO site.

Police attended and found the car was stolen and wearing cloned plates, and searched it.

Inside they found a drug-dealer’s tool kit consisting of nearly $1000 in cash, ice, digital scales and deal bags.

When Jebson unlocked her phone officers saw a series of text messages indicating she had been dealing, and she was arrested and locked up.

Jebson described herself online as an actor, extra, model, photographer, hair and makeup artist and fashion stylist involved in the beauty industry.

She can also now put down jailbird on her resume after she was jailed for four months.

Young, not free

Jail is like a second home for this dealer after being imprisoned for the fourth time for trafficking ice.

Despite being only 23 at the time Emily Higginbottom was again back behind bars for her inability to stop selling the deadly drug.

She had only been out of jail for a few months when she again embarked upon another crime spree.

When police found a stolen car in her driveway they also uncovered drug cash, a ‘tick list’, and 80g of ice hidden in her pockets, bra and underwear and inside boots on the porch of her property.

The magistrate said he was shocked at her incredibly poor rap sheet which included thefts, multiple drug trafficking priors and a long litany of driving while disqualified while high on drugs.

He said ice was “the most terrible drug the courts have seen, ever”.

Higginbottom was sentenced to two years and five months in jail with a non-parole period of 15 months.

Getting high on his own supply

One forgetful junkie dealer found with 35g of ice first tried to sell authorities that it was for personal use, then changed his story to say it was his mate’s gear.

But Christopher Lacco wasn’t believed in either case and ended up accepting a charge of drug trafficking.

The father of four was also found with a deadly garrotte, which he said he “made because he was bored” when cops raided his girlfriend’s Somerville home.

Officers uncovered the drugs and weapon in his car in the driveway, which he initially said he had “forgotten” were there.

In court his defence lawyer said he had got involved with ice after catching up with old school friends and at its peak he had a gram-a-day addiction, but now completely abstained.

Lacco stood up and said “I lost a lot through drug use; I’ve learnt my lesson.”

Luckily for him he didn’t lose his liberty, instead walking from court with a community corrections order.

Three strikes, he’s in

Luck did finally run out for one repeat drug dealer after he was nabbed selling meth three times in eight months.

When Scott Whitbourn’s car was searched police found scales, a bag of ice, a smoking pipe and empty deal bags.

Four months later officers again came across Whitbourn with a backpack with 14g of ice, other drugs and cash inside.

But he hadn’t learned his lesson and a few months after that his home was raided with more meth and bundles of cash found.

His defence lawyer said his “spiral” into ice use “had his world turned upside down”, but he was now able to have insight into what it had cost him.

The magistrate said it “is not just his life he is wrecking, he is wrecking a whole lot of other lives in the community as well”.

He was given six months in jail.

Shot down

Alert PSOs nabbed a law student dealing drugs in Frankston shopping mall with a gun, ammo and knife in his backpack.

Adam Pearce had turned to using ice after a vicious baseball bat bashing left him with PTSD, which then turned into dealing to pay for his drugs, and ended with him being jailed for his crimes.

PSOs had been patrolling the mall when they saw Pearce talking suspiciously to another man, and after a search found 4.3g of ice, an imitation gun, a folding knife, rounds of ammunition, deal bags and digital scales.

His defence lawyer said he did have a promising legal career before the attack and he turned to drugs, using up to .5g of ice a day, which required some selling to fund.

He was jailed for 56 days, classed as time served, and released on a community corrections order.

‘You are continuing the terrible trade’

A double dealer was caught trafficking ice and ecstasy just weeks after he was given a lenient “wet lettuce” corrections order for doing the same thing.

Police raided the property of Andrew Smith and found 8g of ice, 13 caps of ecstasy and $500 in cash in the bedroom.

He had been found with ice, ecstasy, mobile phones and cash in an almost identical raid and given a community corrections order just a month before this crime.

He told police he smoked 0.1g of ice every second day, and dealt only to his friends.

The magistrate said “I will not be giving him a slap with a wet lettuce for trafficking in ice (a second time).”

“Ice distorts the minds of people; you are continuing the terrible trade.”

He was jailed for four months and fined $3000.
