A menace meth-head led police on a high speed chase before forcing his friend to drive him to the airport in a bid to escape justice.

Jordan Stainer pleaded guilty to a range of driving offences, including reckless driving, endangering emergency workers, driving without a licence, driving an unregistered motor vehicle and for drink driving.

The court heard Stainer led police on a car chase through Mildura in November last year, after they tried to pull him over for driving an unregistered vehicle.

Stainer mounted the kern and drove through the front gardens of several homes, before turning back down Cavallo Dr towards a police checkpoint, causing police to duck for cover.

He then sped through a school zone and eventually dumped the unregistered car in Batey Crescent.

On foot, Stainer later stopped at the home of a friend to ask for a lift to the airport, fleeing the regional town before police caught up with him.

He was arrested in St Kilda after being caught sleeping in an abandoned car, and bailed to appear in the Mildura Magistrates’ Court.

Stainer had been in trouble previously, after he tried to run a police officer over with a motorcycle, causing both himself and the detective injuries.

Stainer returned a positive oral fluid test for methamphetamines at the Mildura Base Hospital.

Magistrate Patrick Southey said was apprehensive to put such a young man in prison for an extended period of time.

Stainer was sentenced to three months behind bars in addition to the 126 he had already spent inside.

The farm worker was caught driving unlicensed in Merbein on April 8 and found to have methamphetamines in his system.

Magistrate Michael Coghlan said Nguyen clearly had a drug problem, leading to his poor driving history.

Nguyen was convicted and fined $1500 for drug driving, another $1000 for driving without a licence and was banned from driving for two years.

“Given your poor history, if you drive again, you will face years in prison,” Mr Coghlan said.

He was taken to Wangaratta Hospital, where he returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.133.

In court on August 30, O’Halloran said he “couldn’t remember leaving the pub”.

“I can’t remember much of it but it was very stupid,” he said.

O’Halloran was convicted and fined $1500, had his licence suspended for 26 months.

Mr Coghlan warned him that continuing down this road would lead him to prison.

A phone and laptop technician has been exposed after being caught driving an e-scooter with a stash of ‘hillbilly heroin’.

Ignatius Michael Alvanos pleaded guilty to a string of charges, including carrying a controlled weapon, possessing oxycodone without a prescription and possessing what has been described as “hillbilly heroin”.

Police saw Alvanos riding an e-scooter without a helmet on October 22 last year and he initially refused to pull over and engage with officers.

After arguing with police, a body search was carried out revealing the technician’s stash, including 20mg of oxycodone tablets and a WoLF branded knife.

Alvanos claimed to have a prescription for the drugs, however was unable to produce it.

Magistrate Michael Coghlan said it wasn’t wise for Alvanos to be carrying around such a stash of drugs.

“Carrying around the hillbilly heroin, not bad for a bloke that has history in relation to trafficking.”

Alvanos was convicted and fined $300 for oxycodone possession and $500 for the knife.
