A Mildura laptop and smartphone technician with a wrap sheet that includes dealing meth has been busted cruising the streets on an electric scooter with a stash of “hillbilly heroin”.

Ignatius Michael Alvanos pleaded guilty in the Mildura Magistrates’ Court to charges of carrying a controlled weapon and oxycodone despite him claiming that he had a prescription for the drug the magistrate described as hillbilly heroin.

At 8.40am on October 22, patrolling police saw Alvanos riding an electric scooter without a helmet and initially refused to pull over when asked.

Alvanos then argued with police when they searched him, finding eight 20mg oxycodone tablets and a WoLF branded knife.

Alvanos told police at the time, he had a prescription for the drugs, however no such prescription was ever provided to the prosecution.

Magistrate Michael Coghlan said it wasn’t a smart idea for someone with a history of drug trafficking to be loaded up with oxycodone

“Carrying around the hillbilly heroin, not bad for a bloke that’s got history in relation to trafficking meth and the like,” he said.

Alvanos was convicted and fined $300 for possession of the oxycodone and $500 for the knife.
