A CHILDCARE centre boss who pleaded guilty to a violent and unprovoked road rage attack on a truckie in Cheltenham, has been released on a good behaviour bond.

A CHILDCARE centre boss who punched a truck window shattering glass into the driver’s face has walked free from court.
Matthew Salisbury, who runs kinders in Beaumaris, Aspendale Gardens, Bentleigh and Cheltenham, lost his cool in an unprovoked road rage attack earlier this year.

The 51-year-old pleaded guilty to recklessly casing injury and criminal damage charges at Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
The court heard he was driving his ute along Talinga Rd in Cheltenham at 3.35pm on March 20 this year.
He overtook a pallet truck and pulled up abruptly right on front of it, forcing it to a halt.
Salisbury then got out of his vehicle, went up to the driver’s side of the truck and began yelling.
The driver wound the window down part way before Salisbury punched the glass, shattering fragments into the face of the victim.
He then walked back to his ute and sped off.
A witness came to the aid of the truck driver, who was bleeding from lacerations to his face.

When police officers interviewed Salisbury the next day, he told them he was remorseful and had punched the window out of anger.
In court his defence lawyer said Salisbury was sorry for what he had done and had in fact gone back to apologise to the truck driver, but he had already left.
He said he had offered to pay for the window and made full and frank admissions to police.
He said Salisbury, who had never been in trouble before, has since had counselling sessions for anger issues.
Magistrate Anne Goldsbrough said it was “inexplicable” for him to behave is such an “outrageous” way, but he had taken responsibility for his actions and undergone counselling.
Salisbury was placed on a 12-month good behaviour bond and must contribute $1500 to the court fund. No conviction was recorded.
