There’s more room to move (and party) inside the Little Woodpecker since the Blackburn North cafe acquired the space next door. This year the venue opened for functions.

Aunt Billies has been serving mod-Aus cafe fare with a Middle Eastern twist since 2015. Try your eggs benny in stack form, or a decadent french toast.
1/20 BLACKBURN RD, BLACKBURN
This cafe opened in Blackburn in February and serves Asian-inspired brunches with speciality Parde coffee. If you like your morning hit of caffeine with a touch of colour, they’re now serving up turmeric, beetroot and even butterfly pea lattes — and yes, that last one is blue.

Owners Andrew and Rachel recently sold the Two Cats Espresso Bar to a new owner, after running the business since 2015. Don’t worry — you’ll still find your favourite coffee and sweet treats on the menu including slices, butterbings, cookies and cakes.
9 RANGEVIEW ROAD, BORONIA
Pick up a latte and leave with a fresh bunch of flowers at Elsa and Gray. This cafe does double duty as a florist, with New Zealand coffee blend Millers on the machine and a menu packed with organic and natural ingredients. Found five minutes from Boronia train station.
CROYDON
22 MCADAM SQUARE, CROYDON
One for the healthy eating crowd. Organic and free range produce is at the helm of Rumour Mill’s kitchen. Cakes and cookies are baked fresh daily but there’s a separate clean eats and vegan section of the all-day menu.
137 MAIN STREET CROYDON
The family owned and operated cafe serves Moroccan-inspired lunches and Capulus and Community Roasters coffee. The roast is strong, dark with lots of body and a sweet finish.
22 HEWISH RD, CROYDON
Come for the premium coffee and stay for the vegan-leaning menu. You’ll also find all your breakfast favourites including smashed avo, crumpets, French toast and granola.
