Multi-millionaire Adrian Portelli has come good with his money, buying The Block home of Sharon Johal and Ankur Dogra.
Portelli paid around $4.25m for the Gisborne property which had been passed in at auction, giving the couple a profit of around $170,000.
“The agents hit me up yesterday and within 25 minutes it was sold,” Portelli told the Herald Sun.
“It’s going to be given away. One lucky Aussie is going to win it through our business and a trade promotional giveaway.”
Portelli, 33, found himself at the centre of controversy in last week’s season’s finale after being accused of deliberately ramping up bids on Oz and Omar’s property before their record-breaking win.
He denied any wrongdoing, saying Johal had also tried to woo him as a buyer.
“I haven’t even watched an episode of the show, I had a relationship with Sharon and went and looked at their house,” he said.
“Real estate agents were reaching out to me and I said let’s get a deal done. People can win it via lmctplus.com and Omar and Oz might be joining us on the promotion. We’re all going to be one big happy, family.”
Portelli, who lives between Melbourne and the Gold Coast, said he doesn’t know how many houses he owns – “I can’t live in all of them” – but he’s just invested in a $70m property on the fringe of Melbourne which a consortium plans to develop.
“When I get back to Melbourne the development in the city will commence,” he said.
It’s believed he’s also bought the car that Johal and Dogra won during the series as part of the deal.
‘Oh my god you guys were screwed’
Sharon Johal said she was proud to be a survivor.
The actor turned reality show star copped a ‘villain’ edit on the show which wrapped with her house being passed in at last week’s auctions.
“I absolutely refer to myself as a Block survivor,’’ Johal said.
“Everyone is showing love, saying ‘oh my god you guys were screwed and we adore you and wish the best for you’. It’s all been positive, online is very different to real life.”
Johal stepped out at the Stokehouse on Thursday in celebration of Sussan fashion and inspirational women.
Prior to the home being bought by Adrian Portelli, Johal said she and husband Ankur Dogra had been in no rush to sell.
“We know what the house is worth and it’s much more than what we saw on the show so if it’s not in the range we want we will keep it on the market,’’ she said before the sale.
Johal said all the teams were still in shock from the controversial results.
“Everyone is still reeling from it all, it was the extremist of highs and the lowest of lows,’’ she said.
“A massive rollercoaster which was indicative of the whole series.”
