SCHOOL holidays may have begun, but that doesn’t mean campuses across the Gold Coast are empty.
Playgrounds, high-tech drone landing pads, a mountain bike “pump” track and airconditioned classrooms are some of the projects on the reno list this summer.
At Upper Coomera College, a new playground is being built for junior students.
The two-month, $120,000 build will open up a previously unused grassy area to include an outdoor performance space, wooden stage, climbing area and elevated outdoor learning space.
“This school has a lot of students, so this allows for performances during lunch breaks,” Head of Junior school Carmel Ord said.
“It is just such a flexible area for all types of learning, and is also a beautiful space for children to interact with each other and nature.”
In 2020 students can also expect some fresh paint and new carpets in the high school area.
