Upper Coomera State College Junior School welcomes new principal

ONE of the Gold Coast’s largest state schools has welcomed a new principal for the final term of the year.
Carmel Ord, a long time Gold Coast educator, has been announced as the new principal of the Upper Coomera State College Junior School for the beginning of term 4.
Her arrival into the school follows a number of changes at the facility, home to 2037 students.
In May executive principal Mike O’Connor announced his resignation to move to China for a position at the international college.

Noel Rawlins, who previously worked in Weipa, took on the role of Executive Principal at the school after the departure of Mr O’Connor.
In her welcome note to parents and students, Ms Ord said the school had a “very positive ‘vibe’.
“I am very excited to be a part of Upper Coomera State College,” Ms Ord wrote.
“I have already had three excellent days a the college.”
Ms Ord, who has been an educator for three decades, also prioritised the connection between the school and the home.
Originally from the Tweed area Ms Ord previously worked at Clover Hill State School, Varsity College, Goondiwindi and Surfers Paradise.
