FORGET the chaos of the M1 – the real school rush of a morning is at the Huth home.
Mother of six Amie Huth was up at 5am today, steeling herself for the task of getting her brood ready for the first day of school.
Despite the early alarm, she only just beat her youngest – four-year-old Joe Huth – out of bed, because he was brimming with excitement at his first day of Prep.
“I was up early trying to check to make sure everything was right,” Mrs Huth said.
”I was double checking they all had their uniforms out, socks ready and shoes polished. There are six of them so it does take a bit of organisation the night before.

“You can’t have anyone go to school without their hat in their bag.”
With Joe leading the charge, the Huth clan – also comprising James, 6, Joel, 7, Jacob, 13, Jordyn, 14, and Joshua, 16 – readied themselves for the new school year over a breakfast of cornflakes and honey.
“He was very excited,” Mrs Huth said of her youngest.
“He was so keen to be in the same class as his older brother (James), who was now going into Year 1,” she said.
Mrs Huth and husband Anthony have sent their children to Lutheran Ormeau Rivers District School (LORDS) at Pimpama, which has grown alongside the family.
Despite the parents’ best efforts, the mornings still wouldn’t run smoothly without the help of the older children – Joshua, Jordyn and Jacob – who have started Years 11, 10 and 8 respectively.
“They are a blessing and are always helping us with the little ones,” she said.

“We managed to get everyone to stand still for the first day of school photo. It is a bit of a tradition.”
The family then packed into their eight-seater vehicle to go to school together, in order to see an excited Joe walk through the gates and start school life.
“It is exciting to see them all go. It hasn’t hit me yet that he won’t be there when I get home but I am sure I will find plenty to do,” Mrs Huth said.
The Huths are proud to be a LORDS foundation family, having eyed off the school before it had even been built.
“We signed up our eldest to the school when he was six months old, before it had even been built,’’ Mrs Huth said.
“We loved the idea of a brand new school with kids from kindy to Year 12.
“The school has been such a blessing in our lives.”
Mrs Huth felt like the proudest mum after dropping the children off.
“When I see them in their uniform, you can’t help but feel like the proudest mum. I am so proud of all of them and how they have grown up,” she said.
“I think every family has their quirks and learns how to work together. We might be a bit bigger but we aren’t too different from anyone else.”
