A jaw-dropping “hyper luxury” unit in a three-storey Burleigh Heads has sold for record-shattering $20m.
A cashed-up interstate buyer snapped up the 970sq m, two-level penthouse inside Burleigh Hill’s Glasshouse building on Goodwin Terrace.
The giant unit is five times the size of an average home, will have a large rooftop terrace and features four bedrooms, six bathrooms, gym, wine cellar and parking for five cars.
Glasshouse will be built by prolific developer Spyre Group.
Spyre director Andrew Malouf said the high-end three-unit block was expected to be built by late 2023.
“We received a great deal of genuine interest in this property and the market was very accepting of the value proposition it presented,” he said.
“It’s a true reflection of what happens when a perfectly elevated, unrepeatable location is met with the very best of design detail and finish.
“To have a market so enthused by this level of offering is a great outcome and a call to where the group is headed.”
The deal was brokered by CBRE Gold Coast residential project director Nick Clydsdale.
The $20m sale is the latest in a series of high-profile penthouse deals in the past year and eclipsed the previous record by nearly $5m.
A US-based couple in May 2021 paid $8.15m for a two-storey penthouse in S & S Projects’ Awaken Residences luxury tower which is being built at Point Danger on the former Café Dbar site.
Weeks later the penthouse of Surfers Paradise’s Soul supertower sold for $15.25m to Culture Kings co-founder Tah-nee Beard.
Glasshouse’s record may not last long, with three other high-end luxury penthouses on the market.
The penthouses of KTQ Group’s Miles Residences, on the former site of the Kirra Beach Hotel, hit the market in January for $16.75m.
The two-level unit inside Burleigh Heads’ planned 14-storey De-Luxe tower on the Old Burleigh Heads Theatre Site is on the market for $22m, as is the penthouse of the proposed Chevron One tower on Chevron Island.
Construction is yet to begin on the latter two projects.
UNIT SET TO SELL FOR RECORD PRICE
A jaw-dropping Burleigh Heads penthouse looks set to smash the Gold Coast apartment sale record – and it hasn’t even been built yet.
The Bulletin understands contract negotiations are underway for the multi-level penthouse at Glasshouse, at the headland end of Goodwin Tce, for a staggering $20m.
The sculptural 969sqm penthouse features four bedrooms, six bathrooms, gym, wine cellar and parking for five cars.
Set across three levels, the penthouse also features a rooftop pool and spa deck, with the whole thing wrapped in floor-to ceiling glass to capitalise on sweeping views across Burleigh Beach to the horizon.
Nicholas Clydesdale, CBRE’s Gold Coast residential project director, could not confirm whether or not a contract had been signed, saying only that there had been “strong interest” in the property, which was advertised as “price on application”.
The 367sqm middle apartment was also still listed for sale at $12m this week.
Glasshouse is the project of Brisbane-based Spyre Group, which unveiled plans for the three-unit, “uber-luxury” apartment building to replace a 100-year-old house last year.
The old house on 546 sqm at number 10 had been owned by Lauren and Brian McMaster, who sold it to the developer for $11m last March – $4m more than what they paid a year earlier.

Spyre Group director Andrew Malouf said at the time the company was looking to deliver a “very boutique” project on the headland that would not inflame the community further.
When and if it does sell, the Glasshouse penthouse may not hold the record for long, with a penthouse down the road, to be built on the site of the Old Burleigh Theatre, being marketed for $23m.
The penthouse at another yet-to-be-built tower, Chevron One on Chevron Island, has been valued at $22m but is being retained by Elias Jreissati, the chairman of the building’s developer, Bensons Property Group.
Gold Coast penthouses have had a blistering year, with top-dollar transactions including the $15.25m sale of the Soul penthouse in June last year.
That sold to mega-rich co-founder of wildly-popular streetwear and styling company Culture Kings Tah-nee Beard.
In May last year, a US-based couple paid $8.15m for a two-storey penthouse in luxury tower to be built on the Café Dbar site.
It was a record price for a unit or villa south of Mermaid Beach, but it now looks likely to be eclipsed by more than double.
