BIOGRAPHY

ROB Callanan says he is an eastern suburbs accountant who has lived in the seat for twelve years.

And says he has over 20 years’ experience in financial services, and currently runs a successful accountancy practice.

Rob says that, having helped hundreds of local families and businesses with their financial future, he can see how government is letting us all down.

He says he and his young family live in Wentworth, and he was the treasurer of the Sydney United football club and a long-time member of the Australian Army Reserve.

Rob says he will appear on the ballot paper as the Katter’s Australia Party candidate despite being disendorsed after it was revealed he had links to brothel The Penthouse - The Ultimate Gentlemen’s Club.

He is now running as an independent.

1. Do you think we need a new public secondary school in the Wentworth electorate?

Yes. Definitly.

2. What are your thoughts on the current rate of development?

Overdeveloped.

3. Do you support the proposed development in the national park at South Head?

No.

4. Should we make changes to negative gearing?

No.

5. What are the key elements of your tax policy?

No change to tax.

6. Do you have a stance on corporate political donations?

No.

7. What is the most important health related issue?

HIV.

8. What support should be given to businesses?

Lots of support including cheaper easier access to finance.

9. What emphasis should placed on funding to the arts?

Very little.

10. How should Australia proceed with regards to immigration?

Reduce numbers.

11. Should we change how we process asylum seekers?

Yes. Get them out of detention.

12. What action should be taken with regard to climate change?

We need to take an integrative approach with the business and industries that are affected and to help them move into new, greener energy sources and reduce carbon emissions.

13. Do you support live animal export?

Yes.

14. Do you think we need to tackle law and order differently?

No.

15. How should we continue to move towards reconciliation with indigenous people?

The same as we have been in the recent past.
