Q&A

1. Do you think we need a new public secondary school in the Wentworth electorate?

Absolutely. We in fact need at least 2 to 3 public schools. Forty per cent of the electorate are renters and unfortunately not all are in the fortunate position to afford private school education.

2. What are your thoughts on the current rate of development?

There is too much residential development with a lack of community forums or discussion.

3. Do you support the proposed development in the national park at South Head?

Not at all. A proposal that is in place does nothing for the local community and keep national parks protected.

4. Should we make changes to negative gearing?

At present, the laws in affect do keep the residential market moving. The property market is changing so therefore we need processes in place to reflect this.

5. What are the key elements of your tax policy?

We want to tax higher income earners and provide a transparent and practical means test for lower to middle income earners.

6. Do you have a stance on corporate political donations?

No matter how small, all donations must be revealed publicly including their association or connection to the party they have donated to in question.

7. What is the most important health related issue?

Right now, with a fast aging population, the most important issue is the elderly and their.

8. What support should be given to businesses?

We should provide business grants, and tax cuts to all new business startups.

9. What emphasis should placed on funding to the arts?

Arts funding is culturally important to ensure a healthy arts movement for future generations.

10. How should Australia proceed with regards to immigration?

We need more consultation on rural placements to increase skills and grow communities.

11. Should we change how we process asylum seekers?

Absolutely, having people in detention for over two years is abhorrent and inhumane.

12. What action should be taken with regard to climate change?

We need more research into renewables and wind and solar energy initiatives.

13. Do you support live animal export?

Yes. With heavy restrictions and the rights of animals at the pinnacle of all policy.

14. Do you think we need to tackle law and order differently?

We need more community policing and community watch schemes upgraded.

15. How should we continue to move towards reconciliation with indigenous people?

A national day of reconciliation is required. New Zealand had the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840. What is taking us so long?
