A 31-year-old man, Cem Uzun, has been charged over a stabbing at Merrylands on Sunday when a man was left fighting for his life.
Mr Uzun was charged after the incident, which police allege was targeted, at 3.30pm when police found a 35-year-old man with multiple stab wounds.
He was taken to Westmead Hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition in the intensive care unit.
Cumberland police formed an investigation and following inquiries, attended a home on William St and arrested Mr Uzun.
He was taken to Granville police station and charged with cause wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder.
A police statement said they would allege in court that the two men were known to each other. That possible connection was not mentioned at Fairfield Court on Monday.
Mr Uzan did not appear via video link and the matter was adjourned to October 5.
