Man charged after Merrylands stabbing left man fighting for life
A man has been charged after what police say was a ‘targeted’ stabbing in Sydney’s southwest, which has left a man fighting for life in hospital.

A man has been charged following a stabbing in western Sydney, which left another man clinging for life in hospital.
A 31-year-old man has been charged after what police allege was a targeted stabbing in Merrylands.
The man was charged with cause wounding/grievous bodily harm to a person with intent to murder and is set appear at Fairfield Local Court on Monday, where police will allege the two men are known to each other.
Emergency crews said they found a 35-year-old man bleeding out with stab wounds on Sheffield St in suburban Merrylands about 3.30pm on Sunday.
The man went into cardiac arrest before paramedics stabilised him in the middle of the road.
He was then taken to Westmead Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
Police – who allege the attack was targeted – shortly afterwards went to a nearby home on William Street and arrested the 31-year-old man.
He was taken to Granville police station to be questioned where he remains after he was refused bail.
Dramatic video footage taken after the alleged attack shows a man lying on the ground in the middle of Sheffield St while bleeding heavily.
He suddenly tries to sit up, but witnesses urge him to try and sit still.
“Lay there, lay there – don’t move,” one man said in the footage.
Bloodied clothes were left in the middle of the road.
Police cordoned off the area along Sheffield St and will look into what happened.
