A BELMORE man has been charged with a string of offences on Sydney’s northern beaches after allegedly drink-driving, urinating in a police cell and trashing an $80,000 fingerprint machine.
Police were called to a licensed premise in Freshwater about 10.40pm on Friday after reports of two men behaving aggressively.
But, by the time police arrived the men had left.
The officers were then driving along Moore Rd when a car passed with two men matching the description.
Police conducted a U-turn and followed the men.
Police alleged the driver turned on to Undercliff Rd and switched off the car lights in an attempt to hide.
Police then approached the vehicle and conducted a breath test on a 36-year-old Belmore man.
After 10 failed attempts at a breath test, he was arrested by police and taken to Manly police station.
Police conducted a breath test at the station and the man allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.129.
Police allege that after being placed in a dock, the man began urinating, and forensic cleaners were called in to clean up.
Police further allege the man indicated he needed to go to the toilet but, after he was taken out of the dock, he refused to go back in.
While waiting to sign paperwork, the man allegedly walked to the fingerprinting machine and pulled it over, badly damaging it.
Police attempted to get the man back in the dock when he allegedly became aggressive.
Fearing a confrontation, the man was sprayed in the face with capsicum spray.
He then calmed down and was placed in the dock.
He has been charged with two counts of malicious damage, mid-range drink driving and his license was suspended.
