AN intoxicated Frenchs Forest man fell head first onto an awning above a shop on The Corso on the weekend and then proceeded to take photographs and videos of himself.
About 3.20am on Sunday morning, police patrolling The Corso allegedly heard a thud.
A security guard from a nearby licensed premises said he saw a person fall two metres from a building above a shop onto the awning below.
Police called out to the 20-year-old but heard no response.
Shortly after, the man quickly got to his feet and stumbled backwards, nearly falling off the awning and onto the pavement below him. Officers directed the man to lie down and not to move.
The man began complaining of head and neck pain, meanwhile taking photographs and videos of himself and laughing at the situation due to his intoxication.
Fire and rescue crews were called to the scene of the accident along with an ambulance.
The crews arrived shortly after. They then scaled the roof by ladder and assisted the man to safety.
Police say the injured man had minor lacerations to his arms and face.
A spokesman from NSW Ambulance also confirmed the man had suffered minor injuries.
He was placed in a neck brace and taken to the Royal North Shore hospital for treatment.
He was not with anyone else at the time.
