HELICOPTERS were called to four accidents on the northern beaches on the weekend, including one involving a gas barbecue that exploded at Clontarf on Sunday.
A CareFlight helicopter spokeswoman said the 33-year-old woman was one of two people injured when the gas bottle exploded.
Paramedics were called to called to Clontarf Reserve about 1pm following reports a woman had suffered burns to her torso and face. The other victim did not need hospital treatment.
The CareFlight helicopter landed nearby but after being assessed by paramedics, it was decided to transport the woman to Royal North Shore Hospital by road with CareFlight’s medical crew on board.
On Saturday morning, paramedics were called to West Head Rd in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park about 9am after receiving reports a 26-year-old cyclist had fallen from his bicycle and injured one of his legs.
CareFlight’s rapid response helicopter was called to the area and landed on a helipad in the national park, from where the injured cyclist was flown to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition.
On Saturday afternoon, paramedics were called to a house in Allambie Heights following reports a man in his 50s had fallen and suffered a head injury.
CareFlight’s rapid response helicopter was called at about 2.45pm and landed at a park close to the man’s home.
The specialist doctor and paramedic assessed and treated the patient on scene before he was transported by road by ambulance to hospital for further assessment.
On Sunday afternoon a man a 22-year-old Hornsby man fell about 5m at a waterfall on Mccarrs Creek Rd in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park and sustained leg and injuries.
The man was carried to a clearing, winched aboard an ambulance helicopter and flown to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition.
