Cafe operators sought for Warringah Mall Myer revamp, which will be unveiled in October at new-look mall

A REVAMPED shop at Warringah Mall will be Australia’s first ‘New Myer’ — complete with an in-store cafe and a new shopping experience.

A  REVAMPED department store at Warringah Mall is set to open a cafe — and you could run it.

Myer is looking for an operator to take the helm of a food destination which they hope will become a must-visit as part of a revamp of the shop.

Bosses are keen to bring a northern beaches feel to the cafe, and are looking for an idea that’s “fresh, vibrant, fun and on-trend”.

Warringah store manager Alexis Pead said it will be a key part of the revamped store, which is being dubbed New Myer, and is an “exciting opportunity” for people already running a food venue on the peninsula.

“Sydney’s northern beaches are iconic both for their stunning scenery and enviable lifestyle,” she said.

“Our new store at Warringah will blend this beautiful landscape and relaxed culture with leading design aesthetics.

“It will be the first time our valued customers can truly see, touch and feel what it means to be a part of New Myer — from a completely revised store design to wanted brand and tailored services including our very own cafe.

“We are seeking a food partner that supports our strong commitment to providing customers with a wonderful experience.

“The successful operator will be selected for their commitment to the local area and excellent service.”

Myer has hired food consultants Brain and Poulter to handle the hunt for the cafe they will bring in.

The company has previously worked on installing cafes and restaurants including at the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Airport.

Boss Suzie Brain said the person they are looking for will already be operating a cafe on the northern beaches, and will be looking to expand.

She said: “We are looking for someone that understands both Myer, which is about making shopping a total experience, but someone who understands the peninsula shopper and what they would like to be experiencing.

Ms Brain added the cafe should welcome everyone, from families with children, to men waiting for wives and girlfriends.

“We are looking for people who understand what northern beaches living is like,” she added.

As reported in the Manly Daily, the store, which had originally been hoping to remain open during its refurbishment, changed its plans after works at the mall had seen customers drop off, and will reopen in October after the transformation.

As part of a new look, the Melbourne store has installed a champagne bar.
