A SECTION of Warringah Mall has been evacuated following what police have described as a “possible threat”.

A police statement said: “Just before 8am police were called to a shopping centre at Brookvale responding to reports of a possible threat at a construction site within the centre.”

“Access to a small parking area has been restricted and the construction site has been evacuated,” the statement said.

A spokesperson from Westfield Warringah Mall told the Manly Daily they had received the all clear around 10.30am.

She said construction workers had been evacuated about 9.15am from the area at the north of the site. But shoppers were not affected.

“The evacuation was localised to the construction area and a car park,” said the spokesperson.

“Access to the Starfish car park, near Woolworths was closed while police investigated.

“The rest of the centre continue trading as usual.”

She said the mall staff had followed the advice of the police in evacuating part of the site.
