Topshop and Apple at Warringah Mall’s new Myer

Myer hopes to win over new customers with new brands at its Warringah Mall store, including British favourite Topshop and big names including Apple and Nike.

Myer  at Warringah Mall will temporarily close at the end of January for a revamp and will reopen with a host of new international brands including Topshop and Apple.

The store, which had originally been hoping to remain open during its refurbishment, had changed its plans after works at the mall had seen customers drop off, a spokesman said.

The company also announced the Warringah store would be the first in Australia to have the “New Myer” look but it would also reflect “the casual and cool lifestyle of Sydney’s northern beaches”.

In line with Myer’s ongoing brand overhaul, the store will host international names such as Topshop, Topman, French Connection, Scotch & Soda, Jack & Jones, Nike, Apple and MAC Cosmetics, with future brands to be announced.

It will also showcase Australian lifestyle brands including Marcs, Seed and Country Road, as well as Australian designers such as Asilio, Tallulah, Cue and sass & bide.

“The Warringah store will be the first major store refurbishment of our New Myer strategy and is part of our greater than $600 million investment across the business to deliver a sharper and more focused offer to our customers,” Myer boss Richard Umbers said. There would also be opportunities for local businesses to open a food or drink venture or a pop-up shop.

A Myer spokesperson said for example, its Melbourne store had a champagne bar and it would be open to suggestions from businesses wanting to be part of the new look store, although it would have to work for the northern beaches market.

Mr Umbers said Myer would be holding discussions with staff regarding alternative employment arrangements for them during the refurbishment.

A spokesperson added it would not be commenting on whether staff numbers would increase or decrease after the opening.
