Pro-athlete Katie Williams reveals secrets to her killer abs and reveals how she deals with web trolls
FITNESS pin-up Katie Williams adorns magazines and advertising billboards but even her atheltic abs aren’t invulnerable to Instagram trolls.
KATIE Williams is a champion in her sport, and adorns the covers of fitness magazines and advertising billboards.
But the 22 year-old admits she’s been trolled on social media over her amazing athletic body.
Thankfully, the Newport Beach sprinter said she’s got a thick skin.
“I had a comment saying something like ‘she looks like a dude.’ Most of the time people follow me for the right reasons.
“I’ve only really had a few negative commons but I delete it, and ignore it.”
And the secret to those amazing abs, is 80 per cent diet, she said.
“It comes down to three things – how much body fat percentage you have, your genetics, and also the amount of muscle you have.”
Ms Williams, who grew up in Terrey Hills is currently on the Sunshine Coast defending the Australian title she won last year, in surf lifesaving.
She competes in beach running and beach flags. And she hopes the event could be the route to her big dream, later this year, which would be competing at the World Championships in Holland in September.
“Surf lifesaving doesn't have any Olympic sports but my goal is to win the open world championship,” she said.
Ms Williams, whose family including parents Craig and Diana Williams run homewares shop Craig’s Manchester Outlet in Mona Vale, has adorned magazine covers and adverts as far afield as London.
Ms Williams, who trains five times a week at Narrabeen Sports Academy or Fitness First in Dee Why or Mona Vale was even spotted by a friend in an advert for an energy drink on a London bus which she admits is “strange.”
And like many athletes, she’s also got a foot in the media door.
She worked on Fox Sports’ Summer of Surf and is keen to do more.
