Construction has started on a new 124 unit complex north of Brisbane – but with ocean views, a 25m pool, games room and library the development is set to look more like a five-star resort.

Two eight storey towers with 62 three bedroom units are under construction at 59-67 Marine Pde Redcliffe – right opposite Suttons Beach.

The block was cleared several years ago with developers first being granted approval by Moreton Bay Regional Council in 2017.

Council first gave approval for a 136 unit development but the site changed hands and Horan Developments significantly altered the plans.

Residents in surrounding homes and apartments were not fans of the original proposals, forming an action group and lodging more than 50 objections with the Moreton Bay Regional Council.

The majority of concerns related to increased traffic, shadowing, privacy, noise and negative affects on property values.

Council gave them the green light in 2019 and construction started earlier this year.

Both towers are being built at the same time to minimise construction noise to nearby residents.

So far the earthworks have started, the basement walls have been poured and stormwater upgrades are under way.

Works are not due to be completed until late 2022.

Once completed the complex, known as Mirada Suttons Beach, will include a 25m swimming pool for residents, a games room, library, gym, barbecue pavilions and a lounge.

Each unit will have three bedrooms and a balcony as well.

Eight months after hitting the market close to 60 per cent of the apartments are sold with 95 per cent of buyers being owner occupiers.

The peninsula has been a top choice for many developers the past few years – with the Sebel going up at Margate, Vave at Scarborough and Bathers Beachside.
