Stealing a housemate’s dog, drinking tequila for breakfast before driving and urinating on a plane were some of the dumbest crimes committed by southeast Queenslanders in the last two years.

Here we look at 9 men and women who faced courts across the area for their idiotic crimes.

Alyssa Rose Baker

The strange tale of a missing pooch has seen a young Logan woman face court and be handed a fine, after she bizarrely stole her housemate’s dog then helped them look for it.

Alyssa Rose Baker pleaded guilty to one count of stealing in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on November 17, 2023.

The court heard that the 20-year-old Yarrabilba woman stole her housemate’s dog in Bethania on July 19.

She took the dog, put it in her car and hid it at her mother’s house.

Baker then received Facebook messages from her housemates asking if she’d seen the dog and to help look for it.

Baker then returned to the home and helped her two housemates search for the missing pet, while it remained hidden at her mum’s house.

The dog was eventually returned to its owners and Baker was fined $300.

No conviction was recorded.

Dondrino

Rising Aussie rap star Dondrino, who is semi-famous for the track Thank You Drugs, now has drugs to thank for landing him in court.

Dylan Nathaniel Thomas Thurnwald, also known by stage bane Dondrino, pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on April 4 to two counts of possession of dangerous drugs and driving without a licence.

The 29-year-old Beenleigh rapper who grew up on the Sunshine Coast released the tracks Thank You Drugs, I Promise and Violate, the latter garnering more than 1 million views on YouTube.

Thurnwald also has more than 20,000 followers on Facebook and almost 30,000 monthly listens on Spotify.

The court heard Thurnwald was outside a Beenleigh post office on September 7, 2023 when police approached him while attending to a separate incident.

He was found in possession of methamphetamine and the steroid methenolone enanthate.

Thurnwald was fined $900 and disqualified from holding a driver’s licence for six months.

Brandon Leigh McKenzie

A Logan man’s unbelievable excuse for drink driving when he wasn’t supposed to be on the road has been revealed, where he laughingly told a magistrate his reason for breaking the law.

“It was irresponsible and a bad idea to have tequila for breakfast,” he told Magistrate Ron Kilner while laughing.

“I hadn’t had a phone for two weeks either so I didn’t know my licence was SPER suspended.”

Brandon Leigh McKenzie, 27, pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on February 1 to one count of driving while over the no alcohol limit but not over the general limit and without a licence.

McKenzie was self represented in court and said he was remorseful for his behaviour and realised how silly his drinking was.

He was fined $250 and disqualified from holding a licence for three months.

Christopher Anthony Mischefski

An Ipswich dad has faced court for throwing an “insane” tantrum at his daughter’s school, causing police to be called and the school to be locked down.

The Ipswich Magistrates’ Court heard the man had “lost it” because he wasn’t satisfied with the way the school handled his daughter being bullied.

Augustine Heights father-of-three Christopher Anthony Mischefski, 38, pleaded guilty to one count each of using a carriage service to menace/harass/cause offence, plus disturbing the good order of a state institution.

The court heard the wilfully disturb offence occurred at Mr Mischefski’s daughter’s school, Woodcrest State College, on October 10, 2022.

Mr Mischefski was fined $2000 and ordered he be released under a $1000 good behaviour recognisance, which would hang over his head for 12 months.

Kennedy Stone

An Ipswich tradie formed an elaborate plot to stake-out a Brisbane game shop because he wanted to play PlayStation with his mates.

Redbank Plains resident Kennedy Rubanga Stone, 21, pleaded guilty in Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on August 25, 2023, to two counts of entering a premises and committing an indictable offence, two counts of fraud, and driving without a licence (demerit point suspended).

Stone dressed in an employee uniform to avoid suspicion and then waited until the store closed and “helped himself” to a PlayStation.

The court head Stone had previously stolen an Xbox from the same store on November 1.

He then sold both consoles on Facebook using a false account.

He was sentenced to 150 hours of unpaid community service, to be completed within nine months and ordered to pay restitution for both stolen consoles.

Stone’s licence was suspended for six months for the disqualified drive, for which he was also fined $450.

Allan Wells

A 40-year-old Eagleby man who forced his way into a helicopter at a school event and placed the school into immediate lockdown has faced Beenleigh Magistrates Court.

The court heard that Alan Wells forced his way into the cockpit of the helicopter at a school event for Loganholme State School.

The prosecution noted the seriousness of the public nuisance offending and said “he has disrupted an entire school of young children”.

Mr Wells also entered Loganholme’s Hyperdome shopping centre in the same month and attempted to steal several items.

When approached by the security officer at the centre, he punched the officer numerous times

Mr Wells pleaded guilty to charges of being a public nuisance, trespassing and common assault.

He was placed on 18 months’ probation.

Peter Neil Bourke

A disgruntled Telstra customer has superglued his hand to a table inside a service store when he was told his mobile phone could not be fixed, a court has heard.

Peter Neil Bourke, 69, appeared in Caboolture Magistrates Court facing one charge of committing a public nuisance.

The court heard that on the morning of July 5 the Moorina resident went into the Telstra store at the Morayfield Shopping Centre to resolve an issue with his mobile phone service.

The court heard Bourke became unhappy when his service could not be fixed and with what he believed to be a lack of customer service.

Magistrate Kurt Fowler told Bourke while he understood his frustrations, his actions were not the way to go about it.

Bourke pleaded guilty and was fined $750.

Jason Paul Rangi

A man who pulled down his pants and urinated on the seats of a Jetstar plane at Gold Coast Airport has been slammed in court for his “hideous, despicable” antics.

Jason Paul Rangi was on-board a Melbourne-bound flight on December 18 when he started smoking an e-cigarette, ignoring cabin crew members who told him to stop.

Southport Magistrates Court was told the heavily intoxicated 52-year-old disregarded further instructions to remain seated, standing up and pulling down his pants – exposing his penis to staff and other passengers – before urinating on nearby vacant seats.

Rangi pleaded guilty to seven offences including disorderly or offensive behaviour on an aircraft and smoking on an aircraft.

He was sentenced to jail for one month, wholly suspended for six months, and fined $1000.

Jordan Matthew Ashwell

A Loganlea man smuggled heroin into the Beenleigh Police Station watch-house and then took the drug with three other men, a court has heard.

Jordan Matthew Ashwell, a turf layer and father of three, aged 22, pleaded guilty at Beenleigh Magistrates Court to one count of supplying dangerous drugs.

Another man prepared the drug with a syringe he had also smuggled in illegally.

The four men were caught on security camera footage by Police but could not be formally interviewed as they were under the influence.

Judge Craig Chowdhury said the nature of incident was quite alarming.

“The circumstances of the offences showed quite brazen activity,” he said

Ashwell was sentenced to nine months prison, to be released on immediate parole.
