A rising Australian rapper with millions of Spotify and YouTube views, has faced court for being caught with meth and steroids at an unusual location.

Dylan Nathaniel Thomas Thurnwald, also known by stage bane Dondrino, pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on April 4 to two counts of possession of dangerous drugs and driving without a licence.

The 29-year-old Beenleigh rapper who grew up on the Sunshine Coast released the tracks Thank You Drugs, I Promise and Violate, the latter garnering more than 1 million views on YouTube.

The court heard Thurnwald was outside a Beenleigh post office on September 7, 2023 when police approached him while attending to a separate incident.

He was found in possession of methamphetamine and the steroid methenolone enanthate.

Thurnwald was also found to be driving with a suspended licence, due to demerit point infringements.

Defence lawyer Allan Phillips said his client had career opportunities in music and fitness.

“He completed a Bachelor of Music Production, has a successful Spotify account to make money and has worked as a personal trainer,” he said.

“These offences are towards the lower end of the range which can be reflected by way of a fine and his licence can be disqualified.

“He obviously has drug issues, I can’t put it any better than that and he has a serious and lengthy criminal history, I can’t get away from that.”

Magistrate Terry Duroux said Thurnwald’s criminal record was horrendous for a young person.

“He’s a recidivist, persistent offender who needs to stay away from drugs”

Thurnwald was fined $900 and disqualified from holding a driver’s licence for six months.

Convictions were recorded and he remains in custody for unrelated matters.
