A former Brisbane teacher has been charged with more than seven counts of indecent treatment, dating back to the 1990s.

Warren Todd Simondson faced Beenleigh Magistrates Court on March 25, charged with five counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16.

The 53-year-old Tarragindi man was also charged with two counts of indecent treatment and one count of attempting to procure youth for carnal knowledge.

Defence lawyer Donald McGinness applied to vary the bail conditions of his client.

“The prosecution has conceded that the reporting conditions are not necessary but the residential condition can remain,” said Mr McGinness.

“The offending occurred 27 years ago and he has no criminal history when my client was 25.”

Magistrate Terry Duroux ordered a full brief of evidence, to be delivered by May 8 and granted the bail variation.

“He has current bail and no previous criminal history, the conditions of bail should protect any alleged victims,” he said.

“The bail variation is granted, I revoke the current bail and will allow fresh bail which must be signed, the no-contact condition with the victim will still remain.

“He must also still reside in Tarragindi”

The matter will next be mentioned in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on May 29.
