A Loganlea man smuggled heroin into the Beenleigh Police Station watch-house and then took the drug with three other men, a court has heard.
Jordan Matthew Ashwell, a turf layer and father of three, aged 22, pleaded guilty at Beenleigh Magistrates Court to one count of supplying dangerous drugs.
The court heard on May 3, the defendant smuggled a clip seal bag of heroin into the watch-house.
Another man prepared the drug with a syringe he had also smuggled in illegally.
The four men were caught on security camera footage by Police but could not be formally interviewed as they were under the influence.
The prosecution acknowledged Ashwell should have been properly searched before entering police custody.
Judge Craig Chowdhury said the nature of incident was quite alarming.
“The circumstances of the offences showed quite brazen activity,” he said.
“Not only did you get heroin into the cell, another party got a syringe in, this was all seen on security footage.”
Judge Chowdhury noted Ashwell’s young age and said it was crucial he sorted his drug addiction issues out.
“You’re only 22, you’ve got your whole life ahead of you and really need to clean yourself up,” he said.
“Getting a full time job is a very important step for you.
“That will keep you busy, give you confidence and belief and help you be a better example to your three children
“You are doing pretty well with parole but despite your young age, you have an eight page criminal history now.”
The defendant was sentenced to nine months imprisonment, to be released on immediate parole.
