One of the Noosa Shire’s most prestigious streets has equally prestigious homeowners with TV hosts, former politicians and international business people to name a few.
Seaview Terrace at Sunshine Beach has become a millionaires’ playground with its award-winning homes metres from the beach and stunning views of the coast.
The lowest priced sale in the past two years was a cool $2m in February 2020 and even an empty block fetched a price tag of $7.7m earlier this year.
Properties rarely sell for under a seven-figure sum with the last to change hands for six figures in October 2012 which was for $860,000.
Here’s a look at some of the high-profile homeowners at Seaview Terrace:
Karl and Jasmine Stefanovic
Television host Karl Stefanovic and wife Mara and Mine shoe designer Jasmine splashed $3.6m for a luxurious Sunshine Beach home in March 2020.
Since then the couple has completed renovations to create a European-style boutique hotel experience with the help of Mrs Stefanovic’s designer sister Jade Yarbrough.
The home features 180 degree views of Sunshine Beach and has four bedrooms and four bathrooms.
Therese Rein and Kevin Rudd
The wife of former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, Therese Rein, was behind Sunshine Beach’s most expensive sale in May 2020.
The former home of Pat Rafter and Betty’s Burger’s founder David Hales and wife Louise was purchased for $17m.
The John Burgess-designed home was previously sold for $15.2m when Mr and Mrs Hales purchased it from Mr Rafter in January 2018.
Ms Rein founded Ingeus, a company that worked to transition socially and financially excluded people into employment.
Alison Goodger and Simon O’Connor
Founders of the Australian native skincare range own a luxurious Sunshine Beach home.
Sukin skincare brand owners Alison Goodger and Simon O’Connor purchased the three bedroom beach view property in November 2020 $4.15m.
The siblings and beauty entrepreneurs sold Sukin for $53m in 2015 and last year launched an Australian native and vegan-friendly skincare range, Alkira.
AG and SOC Investments, of which Ms Goodger and Mr O’Connor were named as directors, is listed by RPData CoreLogic as the owner of the property.
John Stainton and Judi Bailey
Respected television and film producers John Stainton and Judi Bailey have owned a Seaview Terrace property since 2005.
RPData CoreLogic information showed the pair paid $5m for the home.
Mr Stainton was a key figure behind Steve Irwin and his rise to fame as The Crocodile Hunter.
More recently Mr Stainton was a co-founder of Eat Street Northshore in Brisbane and a creator/owner of Rangelands Outback Camp.
Evgeny Skigin
Russian hemp tycoon Evgeny Skigin owns one of the Sunshine Coast’s most unique properties, Domic.
The Seaview Terrace home – named after the Russian word for “house of domes – is a luxurious $24m sustainable mansion.
A week’s stay at Domic starts at $70,000 in low season but increases to more than $100,000.
Geoff Wilson
A fund manager who campaigned against Labor’s franking credits in 2018 joined campaign efforts with fellow Sunshine Beach residents this year.
ASX-listed Wilson Asset management chairman Geoff Wilson purchased his Seaview Terrace home for $6.5m in November 2020.
Mr Wilson joined a residents’ alliance to push back against Noosa Council’s Coastal Hazard Adaptation Plan.
In his written submission to the council he said the council’s proposed plan was “unnecessarily and economically harmful”.
The council has amended the plan and released it for another round of consultation.
Tea Dietterich and Gregory Harris
Globetrotting CEO Tea Dietterich and Gregory Harris are listed as the owners of a two-bedroom 1970s Seaview Terrace home after it sold for $2m in February 2020.
Ms Dietterich owns 2M Language Service
The AFR reported that she grew the business to have 15 full-time staff and more than 1000 part-time contract translators and interpreters in offices in Brisbane, Melbourne, Manila, Cordoba and Paris.
The company is also at the forefront of remote simultaneous interpreting and remote video interpreting – which became increasingly important in the Covid-19 era.
Michael and Gabrielle Freney
A three-bedroom 1970s built home known as the “surf shack” was snapped up by Michael and Gabrielle Freney of Aussie Travellers for $1.45m in May.
The RV and caravan specialist business has expanded to more than two warehouses and as of 2018 had more than 50 staff.
Gavin and Catherine Deane
A chairman at an international investment bank and financial services battled it out against bidders from around the world for a Seaview Terrace block of land.
The empty block sold in May 2021 for a record $7.7m to Gavin Deane and his wife Catherine, according to RPData CoreLogic.
Mr Deane is Deutsche Bank’s chairman of corporate finance EMEA and global head of technology, media and telecoms.
It was the final beachfront block on the prestigious street and its auction attracted plenty of attention.
Records show the block with 22.3 metres frontage to the beach sold in January 1994 for $525,000.
Morgan Parker
Morgan Benn Parker snapped up a 2006-built four-bedroom Seaview Terrace home in June this year for $5.27m.
Earlier this year Mr Parker was named as chairman of SunCentral through to October 2021 after he was a director of the board since 2015.
Mr Parker had previously developed Dubai’s Mall of the World project, valued at US$29b and spent 20 years working across Asia as a real estate developer, investor and banker for Morgan Stanley, Macquarie Bank and Lend Lease.
Mr Parker also is on the board of Newcastle Airport and founded the Wheel to Wheel charity a decade ago when he rode from Hong Kong to Australia.
Suncentral is a Sunshine Coast Council subsidiary tasked with managing the development at Maroochydore City Centre.
The board continues to be involved in the development following the sale of the balance of the land to Walker Corporation in November 2020.
