A private escape for A-listers at a cost of about $100,000 a week has been named one of Australia’s top holiday getaways.
The “bible of travel” Australian Traveller featured the $24m sustainable Sunshine Beach mansion, Domic, on its front cover and named it among the nation’s most unique homes.
With its curved roofs topped with native landscaping, the home was designed to blend into the natural environment, backing onto Noosa National Park.
Russian hemp tycoon Evgeny Skigin owns the luxurious six-bedroom Seaview Terrace abode which was designed by Noel Robinson and built in 2019.
Niche Luxury Escapes managing director Sue Willis said a week’s stay at Domic started at $70,000 in low season but increased to more than $100,000.
She said the property had return guests and attracted many celebrities – although played mum on who had stayed at the property.
Domic – Russian for house of domes – features 10 bathrooms, a 25m lap pool, sauna and gym and the same commercial-standard cinema found at Oprah Winfrey’s home.
Ms Willis said it was a popular choice for celebrities wanting a private escape with the property located within chopper distance from Gold Coast’s Hollywood studio.
“I’d love to say who but I can’t … they’re very high profile though and very well known,” she said of the high-profile guests.
“We’ve had musicians and bands, they stay with us and chopper down to Suncorp or where they’re performing.
“They choose to stay here and fly under the radar.”
Ms Willis said the high-end holiday home market had fared well recently with the uber-rich locked out of the sailing the Mediterranean and ski trips at Aspen.
“They have their offshore holiday money so Domic is small in comparison,” she said.
While most can only dream of a stay at Domic Ms Willis said its popularity had positive knock on effects throughout the area.
The property agency has hired two additional staff members since Domic was added to their books.
She said it also supported several contractors, cleaners and other small businesses.
“The readership and demographic of that magazine does carry some weight in the industry,” Ms Willis said.
“For Domic to make the cover really gives such a credibility and authority to the fact that Noosa is still one of Australia’s leading holiday destinations.”
